For years, my biggest pet peeve when applying eyeshadow would be that after just a couple of hours my shadow would crease and the color would fade. I used to think that this was because I wasn’t using quality eyeshadows, so I started buying only MAC eye shadows but my creasing problem continued. I finally figured out that the creasing occurred because I did not use an eye shadow primer. Oohhhhh.
After trying out several products, I finally found two eyeshadow primers that I love. Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. At $18 each, there is not much difference between these two products, since they both promise to do the exact same thing… make sure that your eye shadow does not fade, slide or crease throughout the day. They both even out skintone, smooth lines, are very easy to apply, and dry very quickly. After using both extensively, the only difference that I noticed between the two was that my shadow remained more vibrant with the Primer Potion compared to the Shadow Insurance. My shadow even stayed put after spinning class (no I’m not one of those girls who get dolled up to go to the gym, but sometimes there’s not enough time to take my makeup off). Overall, both products will make sure your eye makeup stays put, but Primer Potion will make your eyeshadow stand out all day and all night.
