Reader Request – Best Curl Defining Lotion

TIGI Bed Head Foxy Curls $18.98

Marc Anthony Strictly Curls $7.99

Hello Pink Layers,

As summer approaches, I’ve been blow drying my hair less and less. As a result, my hair ends up in long, loose waves that I love. But, I feel like I need some sort of product to keep the fly-aways under control and the waves more defined. Any suggestions?

Dear Michelle,
Summer is the best time to embrace the loose wave look and give your tresses a rest from the blow dryer and curling iron.  To help your hair look its best and achieve the best wave possible, I recommend you use either a contour cream or some type of curl defining lotion.  My new favorite is Foxy Curls from Bed Head.  I bought this product while I was in New York and needed something to define my curls and boy am I glad I did.  Foxy Curls defines my curls/waves, eliminates frizz (very important for my hair), smells like bubble gum (always a plus), but what I loved the most from this product is that my curls still look good the next morning. With some other products I’ve tried in the past, when I wake up in the morning my curls are gone and I’m left with semi-wavy and very frizzy hair… definitely not cute.
For a cheaper option, Marc Anthony Strictly Curls is also good and can be found at your local drugstore for about $10 cheaper.  This defining lotion will help create soft waves/curls and keep frizz away, but I’ve noticed that the curls won’t hold until the next morning.  Both products will definitely help you achieve your desired look so now it’s just a matter of preference.  Let me know which one you choose.
Happy styling!
