If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you probably know that I’ve been suffering from hormonal acne for the past several years. The Jessner peel did wonders for my cystic acne, but I still have outbreaks along my chin. I have tried every product under the sun and my skin finally started to behave this past year… that’s until I decided to go for a facial in September. Because my skin is so sensitive, I usually only trust my aesthetician in California, but since my acne was finally under control I decided to go for a little pampering session. Bad idea! Since my facial 2 1/2 months ago, my skin has been breaking out like crazy. It’s finally starting to calm down, but during this process I discovered a little product that has changed how I treat my acne. As I mentioned above, I’ve been dealing with hormonal acne for years so I have tried every acne treating product known to man. From Kate Somerville, to Mario Badescu to Proactiv and lots more. The common theme with all those products was that even though they treated my spots, it took at least 4-5 days until I noticed a difference and the infected area would become extremely dry and irritated, making it impossible to cover up. In short, my skin would look like a hot mess.
I decided to try Tea Tree oil on a whim, as I was browsing at the Body Shop. The first day I used this on my breakouts I couldn’t believe my eyes. Not only did Tea Tree oil make an actual difference within a day, but my skin hadn’t dried out, which meant that I could conceal to my heart’s desire. Over the past two months I’ve gone through two little bottles of Tea Tree oil (I told you my skin hasn’t been happy) and I have to say, if I would have used anything else on my breakouts, my skin would be a total mess by now. What works for me is t o apply the oil on the breakouts multiple times throughout the day, and within a few days the breakouts are gone. This little product has really been a game changer for me and I’m so glad I discovered this. My acne is now under control (at least for now) but I do slather this on every other day, in hopes of keeping new breakouts at bay. Let me know if you’ve tried this and if it worked for you
